Sugar Plum

A springtime breeze
During harsh winter
Teases just enough for
birds to fly home
a hint of sugar plum
yet brownie sticks to me
I am haunted by
past, present, future
greeted by an old friend
insomnia
Run, child, back to the
imaginative summers
brownie still sticks to me
maybe it always will be
but we can only hope, dream,
for sugar plum

Descend

Gray clouds roll in
As the sun rises
Bursts of
gold, red, pink,
Glow against the
dull gray
It will not rain
Today
But after nightfall
water will descend
a curtain of
sunset orange

Darkness

Darkness threatens to
Destroy the castle walls
Crushing me
Until I
Break
But I am stronger now
I do not bow to the
Darkness
You will not destroy
My Walls
Not today.

Escape

The clock ticks
Each second an hour
Seven more classes
Yosemite hangs on the wall
Mocking me
Tempting me
So much to do
But I just want to
Escape
To go back to the
Warmer days
Summer days
I want more than anything
to be camping
Freshwater runs between
smooth stones
muddy ground
adventures
as night sets into the forest
The crickets sing
The campfire blazes
In his arms
I could stay
watch the stars all night
as they fall from the
Heavens

Think of You

Snow drifts down
from the clouds
to the ground
through the wind
I sit at the wooden table
watching snowflakes
dance to the ground
But my mind is
elsewhere
Golden waves
Quicksand eyes
Your arms, strong and tight
around me
Your breath on my neck
A demon with an angel's looks
You are my summer, warmth, freedom
But the snow blocks my vision
So much snow
I think of you.

Cold

Cold, cold, cold,
Rain and wind
Dark behind glass walls
Two green eyes
Snickering coals
A single light
On the soggy ground
All is silent
The clouds cry
Glittery, moist tears
I feel cold

Pull

Words whisper through
my tangled hair
They get caught
like a spider's web
weigh me down
Mention of a name
not since Halloween
So much hate
Why so much hate?
You stand for everything
I stand against
We are different
Yin and Yang
Sun and Moon
Pulled together
by a mysterious gravity
Love will never be a
Good Idea
But with every moment
it Pulls me closer
to you
Despite our Clash

Hi

Hello!
My name is Lexi Grane. I'm new to this blogging stuff. I'm just an average girl. I'll post poetry and photography on this blog. I like writing, reading, and music. My favorite current favorite color is red and my favorite season is summer. I live in the U.S. I'm very sensitive and though I'm usually an optimistic person, my poetry might seem kind of dark. That's because I often write poetry when I'm feeling strong emotions, mostly negative, but sometimes positive :)
I started this blog because I have all this poetry, but I don't have anywhere to put it to show people. I would probably make an embarrassment out of myself. I also play the piano and am trying to write songs, but I do not currently have enough skill at writing music to successfully make a song.
Some other things I love are Cimorelli, Taylor Swift, Beautiful Creatures, Fablehaven, and the Percy Jackson series (both). I am a major bookworm and fangirl. My favorite song is "Million Bucks" by Cimorelli. My favorite food are strawberries. My favorite drink is lemonade.
Okay, well that's all for now I think. I hope you like my blog. Thanks!

~Lexi
