The Way It Will Be

Tears fall to the ground
shattering like glass
Turn away from the screen
but I still hear the bang
The pain of the people
A chilling feeling comes over me
We are not safe here
Anywhere
Not at the movie theater
Not in school
Not at a marathon
What has this world come to?
Tears are still dropping
fracturing like ice
frozen in time
wondering what we will do
or if this is the way it will be
Please, God, let this not be
